Who this guide is for
Section actions
- You if you have a car and live in town with paid parking
- You if you want to reduce your parking costs
- You if you need a Crit'Air vignette for downtown
To be prepared in advance
Section actions
- Proof of domicile (less than 3 months)
- Grey card in your name (or on behalf of your spouse)
- Identifier and RIB for payment
Step-by-step procedure
Section actions
- 1Check that your city offers resident parking: Paris (Paris.fr), Lyon (data.grandlyon.com), Grenoble, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice — each city has its own system. In small town, parking is usually free.
- 2Identify your parking area: in the big city, the address = area (1–20 for Paris). In this sector, you benefit from the resident discount.
- 3Cost: Paris 的10–45 €/month (sector 1–4 more expensive, 11–20 less expensive) ; Lyon 15–25 €/month ; Grenoble 30 €/month. Compared to the hourly rate — savings of 80–95%.
- 4Online registration: in Paris — paris.fr (resident parking section); in Lyon — data.grandlyon.com; in most cities — on the site of the city. Create an account, enter a grey card, proof of residence.
- 5In town hall: alternative — present yourself with the rooms. The Town Hall processes the request in 1–2 weeks. Resident card delivery: 1–2 weeks.
- 6Use: After registration, you will receive a number. Park in the area, grab the dial at the horometer or in the city app (Flowbird, Parkmeter). The resident tariff applies automatically.
- 7Monthly subscription: option for regular parking. Collection from RIB every month. Resiliable at any time (effective on the following month).
- 8Vignette Crit'Air: separate from the resident parking lot. Crit'Air 1–5 (electric=1, old diesel=5) — determines access to ZFEs (Low Emission Zones). Application on certificate-air.gouv.fr 4 €).
- 9ZFE (ZFE-m — metropolises): from 2025 in Paris, Lyon, Grenoble — restrictions for Crit'Air 4 and 5 in working days. Crit'Air 3+ often allowed, check your city.
- 10In the event of a move: update the resident parking lot (new proof). The card can be transferred to the new area. Otherwise — full rate payment.
Common mistakes
Section actions
- Do not check the Crit'Air vignette — fine of 68 € for entry in ZFE without vignette or with Crit'Air prohibited.
- Parking in another area (not its own) — the resident rate does not apply.
- Do not cancel the subscription during a move — levies continue.
- Do not update the proof of residence — resident parking is cancelled after 6 months.
- Believing that the resident parking = reserved place — this is a rate only, the place remains to be found.
