Who this guide is for

Section actions
  • You if you have just arrived and need help with your administrative procedures
  • You if you don't have the Internet or control it
  • You if your approach involves several agencies (taxes + CAF + town hall) — France Services coordinates

To be prepared in advance

Section actions
  • Identification (or residence permit)
  • Proof of domicile
  • Documents related to your process (taxation notices, contracts, government letters)

Step-by-step procedure

Section actions
  1. 1Find the nearest France Services on the directory.service-public.fr (section "France Services") — enter your postal code. Each point (House France Services) is in town hall, relay point, La Poste or dedicated local.
  2. 2Come without an appointment (number to be taken if there is a queue) or make an appointment online/telephone. Hours: usually Monday–Friday, sometimes Saturday.
  3. 3Describe your approach — the advisor offers the necessary services. For example: CAF application, ameli account creation, address update for taxes, residence permit application via the ANEF.
  4. 4Use the hardware: scanner, printer, computer with Internet. Advisors help create online accounts (impots.gouv.fr, ameli.fr, space CAF, ANEF for securities).
  5. 5For parts requiring the presence of an agent — France Services may place in video conferencing an agent of La Poste, of the health insurance, of Pôle Emploi. For example, an exchange with a CAF agent in visio.
  6. 6All services are free of charge. France Services does not make a decision – it only facilitates the process. The decision shall lie with the competent administration.
  7. 7Come with all the documents (originals + copies). Advisors help to scan, email, fill out online forms. For a complex case — a second appointment is planned.
  8. 8Accessibility: Most France Services are accessible to people with reduced mobility. For non-French speakers — some points have translators, but not all.

Common mistakes

Section actions
  • Believing that France Services can make a decision — it's a help point, not an agency with competence.
  • Coming without documents — you will have to come back or use the Internet.
  • Do not check schedules — some points only open 3–4 days a week.
  • Ignore France Services and go to agency (e.g. CAF to 50 km) — waste of time, France Services can adjust by visio.
  • Think the service is fee-free — everything is free.
