Who this guide is for

Section actions
  • All families with children (especially 2 or more)
  • Tenant families or in the process of repayment of loans (APL)
  • Active Parents Paying a Custody Mode (CMG)

To be prepared in advance

Section actions
  • Statement of resources (previous year's income)
  • Family Booklet
  • Proof of domicile — e.g. electricity bill, lease or insurance
  • RIB for payments

Step-by-step procedure

Section actions
  1. 1Create an account at caf.fr. If you already have an alloting number, keep it under your hand. Otherwise, open an account from scratch. It's free and usually takes less than an hour.
  2. 2Ask for the help you need: family allowances, PACE (early childhood care), APL (personalized housing assistance) and CMG (free choice of child care).
  3. 3If you have your child in custody, check with the CMG. It finances part of the costs for an approved mode of custody.
  4. 4Update your situation as soon as a change occurs: income, home composition, address, start or end of activity.
  5. 5If you wait too long, the CAF may recalculate your entitlements and ask you to repay an overpayment (undue).
