Import your vehicle to France

Choose the tax and customs route according to the source, then prepare for compliance, control and registration.

For preparation

1. Identifying the situation

Distinguish buying, moving with your vehicle and temporary stay. Before transport, check the restrictions of origin/import, in particular Russia and Belarus: prohibition or specific authorisation possible. Personal use, moving and transit EU do not exempt from verification.

2. EU origin

For a vehicle purchased in another EU state, check the tax release establishing the TVA situation. Parts and channel according to situation and department. For your vehicle when moving, check the requirements separately.

3. Source outside the EU

Check customs clearance and certificate 846 A. The transfer of residence may allow a deductible under conditions of prior stay, possession and use. Confirm with the customs before the budget; no automatic exemption.

4. Compliance and monitoring

Check European certificate, technical certificate or individual DREAL type-approval as appropriate. An EU check can be accepted; confirm validity and necessity according to category and age.

5. Deposit and right of movement

Prepare France Titles/ANTS and check registration, insurance and license. Budget: any taxes, compliance and registration fees. A deposit does not automatically extend the right to move with foreign documents.
