Section actions
- Convening of the prefecture or OFII with date and place
- Passport and residence permit (or receipt)
- Vaccination diary, medical documents (including chronic diseases, treatments)
Step-by-step procedure
Section actions
- 1After filing the application for title — the prefecture forwards the file to the OFII, which sends a summons by mail (in general 2–6 weeks). If nothing happens — contact your department's OFII via the website.
- 2Cost: for a first application for a long stay permit — free of charge (included in the tax) OFII 的 200 €). For medical examinations on specific grounds (e.g. new employee request) — sometimes 350 € to be paid in addition.
- 3Meet at the OFII with passport and summons. Duration: 1–2 hours. No need to be fasting in general, but appropriate clothing for the examination is recommended.
- 4Control content: health condition questionnaire (symptoms, history); size/weight/tension measurement; chest x-ray (tuberculosis); vaccination (DT-Polio, ORR, BCG if without proof); medical consultation with the doctor.
- 5Results: if a disease is detected (active tuberculosis, dangerous infection) — referral to a hospital for treatment. In most cases — no problem, simple "qualification" certificate.
- 6Receive the OFII medical certificate — valid for the title procedure. The prefecture is automatically informed by the OFII. No additional deposits to make.
- 7For family reunification: Medical examination is compulsory for all family members (spouse, children) who arrive via this procedure. Same process.
- 8For some long-stay (students, visitors): the medical examination may not be required or may be lightened. Check with the prefecture or on your title card.
- 9For naturalization: no OFII medical visit, but your health is assessed via a questionnaire.
Common mistakes
Section actions
- Failure to report to the OFII RDV without resuming an appointment — counted as absence, can delay the issue of the title.
- Hide a disease — the doctor detects it on the radio, possibly delaying the title.
- Believing that the visit can be avoided: mandatory for most non-EU titles.
- Do not bring the vaccination book — OFII may require additional vaccines.
- Do not pay the OFII tax in advance — sometimes the visit is not scheduled until the fee is paid.

Important remark
The medical examination is governed by the CESEDA (R311-9, R313-7). Indicative information; precise requirements with your prefecture/OFII.
