Who this guide is for

Section actions
  • New arrivals creating their first administrative access
  • Users confounding FranceConnect with Caf, ANEF, ANTS, Ameli or impots.gouv.fr
  • People facing identity errors, duplicate accounts or suspicious messages

To be prepared in advance

Section actions
  • A supplier account available: impots.gouv.fr, Ameli, Identité Numérique La Poste, MSA, France Identité ou TrustMe, for example
  • Exact graph of surname, first name, date and place of birth in French registers
  • Secure e-mail address, telephone if necessary and password manager
  • Separate list of beneficiary numbers, tax, foreigner, social security and files

Step-by-step procedure

Section actions
  1. 1Distinguish roles: FranceConnect confirms the identity when connecting but does not keep or inform your request. Decisions and exchanges remain with the recipient administration.
  2. 2From the official website of the process, click on "Identify with FranceConnect" and select an already active supplier. It is not necessary to open all available accounts.
  3. 3Check the data transmitted before continuing. A difference in name, date or place of birth with the NIPPR may block access and must be corrected with the relevant registry or supplier.
  4. 4After connection, keep the folder number and messages in the space of the receiving service. Changing supplier FranceConnect should not be used to create a second administrative file.
  5. 5Secure source accounts: unique password, enhanced authentication, up-to-date email address and reliable recovery. No agent should ask you for your password or single-use code.
  6. 6Control the domain name and access the steps from a favourite or the official portal. Facing a suspicious email, do not use its link and open your space directly.
  7. 7In case of blockage, consult the official FranceConnect or France Services help. The YRIS account is no longer available in FranceConnect since 1 July 2026.

Common mistakes

Section actions
  • Consider FranceConnect as central storage of all folders
  • Create a second Caf, ANEF or tax folder after switching supplier
  • Use several civil status charts
  • Communicate a password or SMS code to a so-called agent
  • Continue to rely on YRIS after 1 July 2026

Important remark

Available providers and compatible services are evolving. The correction of the civil status depends on the register or the original account where the error is located.
