Who this guide is for

Section actions
  • Freelances, artisans, consultants
  • Those who want to check if this simplified status is right for them

To be prepared in advance

Section actions
  • Activity description and code APE if it is already known
  • Address
  • RIB
  • Questions on the TVA, ACRE and insurance pro

Step-by-step procedure

Section actions
  1. 1Check that the micro status is suitable for your activity. Some professions have specific rules, so it is best to confirm this before registering.
  2. 2Place your file on the Auto-Enterprise Portal via the URSSAF or the INPI. It's free and fast.
  3. 3After validation, you receive your SIRET. It is used for your invoices, declarations and contracts.
  4. 4Keep activity finance separate from your personal money. If activity grows, a dedicated account quickly becomes useful.
  5. 5Report your turnover monthly or quarterly, even if it is zero. An oversight may result in penalties.
  6. 6Monitor TVA thresholds and ACRE conditions. When you cross a threshold, the rules change right away.

Common mistakes

Section actions
  • Forget the URSSAF return and pay a penalty.
  • Do not follow the thresholds of TVA and find yourself having to charge it without having planned it.
  • Ignore the RC pro while some activities already require it.

Important remark

Labour law has many nuances and evolves regularly. This information is general in nature. For specific situations (litigations, suspicions of irregular dismissal), contact the Labour Inspectorate, a trade union or a labour law lawyer.
