Haute-Savoie reinforces drought-related restrictions

The prefecture of Haute-Savoie has updated drought levels: some basins are in crisis, others are in heightened alert. The restrictions therefore depend on the territory concerned, and not only on the department.

From news to action

Who is concerned

Residents, tenants, owners, gardeners, farmers and organizations located in the municipalities concerned.

What to do

Check the level applicable to your municipality and follow the local list of permitted or prohibited uses.

Background

The prefecture understands by watersheds, as the state of the water resource may vary from one municipality to another. The same use, such as watering or filling a swimming pool, can thus be allowed in one place and banned elsewhere.

Why it's important

Checking the municipality and basin in question avoids involuntary infringement, especially when renting a dwelling or when one has just arrived in the department. The local map is more reliable than a general summary of the drought.

What Changes

The basins of Usses, Dranses and Cheran are affected by the level of crisis. Part of the Arve is also placed at a reinforced level.

Useful details

  • Levels and restrictions may vary from one basin to another.
  • Before watering, filling a swimming pool or washing a car, consult the updated map of the prefecture.
  • Do not automatically apply the rule of a neighbouring municipality to your address.
