Step-by-step procedure

Section actions
  1. 1Information and prevention visit (VIP): mandatory on hiring (in the first months of the 3) for all. The physician/infirmary evaluates health against the position and risks. Duration ~30 min.
  2. 2Recovery visit: mandatory after stopping ≥ 30 days (or after pregnancy/maternity, after ATMP). In the 8 days after return. Objective: To assess fitness and propose adjustments.
  3. 3Periodic visit: regular (all 1 to 5 years depending on the risk). The physician determines the periodicity.
  4. 4Pre-resumption visit: optional during a long stop (at the initiative of the employee/practitioner) to prepare the recovery with modifications.
  5. 5During the visit: speak health and the risks of the post. The doctor may propose accommodation (change of position, part-time therapy), confidentiality is preserved (the doctor at work does not share with the employer).
  6. 6All visits are free for the employee and take place on working time (visiting time counts as working time).
  7. 7In the event of incapacity for work, the doctor may issue a notice of incapacity — the employer must then propose another position or break the contract (in accordance with procedure).
  8. 8You can ask for an appointment with the occupational doctor yourself if you are concerned about your occupational health.

Common mistakes

Section actions
  • Missing medical examination — infringement, possible consequences.
  • Do not talk to the doctor at work about health problems — missed accommodation.
  • Believing that the employer will be informed — confidentiality preserved.
  • Do not ask for a visit during a long stop — missed pre-take.
  • Ignore the notice of incapacity — the employer must act.
