Who this guide is for
Section actions
- Persons whose approach is not entirely settled on ANEF
- Persons who must deposit documents in person or give their fingerprints
- New arrivals who do not know which prefecture to contact
To be prepared in advance
Section actions
- The exact type of approach, to aim for the right appointment.
- Your passport, residence permit or VLS-TS visa.
- The coordinates of the prefecture of your department.
- An e-mail address to receive confirmation.
Step-by-step procedure
Section actions
- 1Find the site of your prefecture and the section for foreigners. The address depends on your department, so check the right page.
- 2Look first if your approach can be done on ANEF. If so, you often don't need to move around.
- 3If an appointment is required, book a slot as soon as it appears. Seats leave quickly, especially in the high demand departments.
- 4Keep the confirmation of the appointment. Without it, you can arrive on time and not be received.
- 5When the day comes, come with a full file. This avoids being returned for a simple missing paper.
Common mistakes
Section actions
- Come without an appointment where it is mandatory. You will not be received and you lose the day.
- Go through an intermediate site that pays for a free appointment.
- Arrive without the requested documents. The appointment can be lost for only one missing document.
- Do not check if ANEF is sufficient. In many cases, displacement is useless.
